What I'm Working On...

I have this awesome book called Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns that I look through often.  To get inspired mostly.  If you are a knitter, definitely pick it up. I linked to Amazon for you.

I've especially admired this pattern for a while.  It's called Old Fern.  It's not easy, but it's so lovely.  I'm working it into a lovely short sleeved Spring sweater.  I'm working it in black, just as a sample.  I'm thinking it'd be stunning in pretty greens and light blues, don't you?

I'm going to jump back into it actually. Just took a little hand break. :)

Have a wonderful night and week... <3 p="">

What I'm working on....

I make a lot of stuff when you get right down to it... I'm often asked for custom orders but never make myself anything!  So, I decided I needed these white Camo (kinda) fingerless mitten/wristwarmers!

Can't wait to wear them.... ♡

Happy Monday!

Jenny

I have boxes and boxes of yarn and craft supplies that have been stored nicely, but I haven't had a chance to look through them for a long time.  Well, I came across FIVE sweaters that I had made and never listed. I don't know why...  Now is the time though!  I'm going to offer them for sale on my facebook page here: Jenny Bunny Creations on Facebook so go there to comment "Sold" with your email address!!!

Here are the photos so you can check them out before heading over there....

Item of the Day - Fuschia and Purple Big Cowl

This yarn is not the easiest to work with, but I love how it turns out. Each skein has a wonderful change in colors and this is one of my favorites.  I just made a hat for my aunt too out of a pretty green and orange mix. Sounds odd, but it's super pretty.

Back to this cowl though... I love making adaptable, functional things to wear.  They do have to be pretty also, but function is number one for me.  From a cowl to a capelet, this one covers a couple of bases while doing it's main job of keeping you warm.  :)

I love the fun buttons too... I wish I had bought in bulk when I initially bought them.

I hope you enjoy this one since it's one of my favorites!  More to come soon!

If you want any of the Item of the Day items in a different color, please email me at jennybunnyetsy @ yahoo . com :)

Newness - Cobalt Blue Hat!

I've been a little under the weather since Wednesday with a nasty cold/virus thing... and so has my baby. :(  Trying to catch up on life though.  So, I'm listing something today. I hope to get the rest up this week too!

Here is a bright cobalt blue slouchy hat... I love the looser fit in the back, with the nice hold of the ribbing at the front.  Available for $20 + shipping.  Click the photo to be taken to Etsy!

And, of course, I love custom orders, so if you like it but want it in another color, just ask!  :)

It's Done: Fuzzy Multicolor Cowl

It's not that I knit or crochet a lot....  No, wait I do.  This is one of three things I've finished in the last week or so.  I love doing both... especially when the projects come out looking as awesome as this cowl.

Super soft, fuzzy yarn in blues, green and brown makes for a fun mix and it's warm.  Much needed warmth in the dreary Winter wonderland that is Minnesota.  Or in your office building on a chilly day.  :) I know how that goes.

Click the photo to be directed to my Etsy listing for the cowl.  From there you can check out all the other new things too.

Back to listing!

It's Done: A Pink, Shiny Hat

Oh, I love finishing projects. Especially ones like this with fun yarn.

Variegated yarn in pink and purple with just a bit of metallic threaded through make for a fun hat, I think. It can be slightly slouchy or like a beanie.  It just depends on how you wear it.

I do post progress photos on Instagram a lot if you'd like to see what I'm working on in the future. @JennyBunnyRocks is my name.

Now to work on a fun cowl and boot cuffs and a custom order... I love knitting so much. :)

Happy New Year!

We are six days into the new year... How is it 2014 already!?  Time flies, as they say, but last year wasn't all that fun for my family and me.  We had lots of ups and downs, but it seemed like more often than not, things were down.  I'm hoping/praying/wishing/dreaming that 2014 is much better, needless to say.  And for you and yours too. :)

Currently it's -18 in wonderfully arctic Minnesota, so I've been thinking and wearing plenty of warm knit and crochet goods.  Of all the skills and hobbies I have, I'm glad I learned how to knit and crochet the most.  It's my downer... If I've had a long day or am just feeling stressed, it's what I do to chill out...  It's that relaxing for me.

I was even really busy in December working on a fairly large custom order for a local friend. She needed 10 or so cowls for her aunts.  They took a while, but were so worth it in the end.  Now I just need to make more to share with you all.  The cover photo on my facebook page actually shows all the colors I created for her here: Jenny Bunny Creations on Facebook

Here are a few things I created that I didn't get to share with you earlier because I was hookin' like crazy for her!

And I did get a chance to do a few more custom orders for people too, but my favorite was a gift for my aunt that my cousin requested.   These chicken potholders and trivet came from a pattern so I can't sell them, but they make me so happy that I couldn't resist sharing!

I don't usually make resolutions, but I hope to find more time for knitting and crochet... and to get a chance to make things for my little girl.  She's due at the end of April.  I can't wait to see her face, but for now I'm going to go snuggle with my cat and husband.  And maybe finish the hat I've been working on....

knit, purl, knit, purl

With moving and a myriad of other stuff that kept popping up, I hadn't had much chance to knit recently. And it's something I love to do.  More than doing most anything really.

I started back up again and I will post a picture to my instagram and twitter later (you can find the links below for those).  It's like I never stopped... The calming effect of it on me is instantly there. It's my downer, folks.  I don't need a Xanax (though I probably should some days), I just need to knit.

Here are a few of my favorite, quick items to knit!  Washcloths!  I love how soft they are.  For someone with super sensitive skin, they are all I need (well, and some soap).  They are available for sale in my Etsy Shop: Jenny Bunny or you can click the pictures to get to the listing.

I have put some of the knit accessories up in the shop again too, though it is starting to get warmer... No time like the present to shop for next winter though I hope it finally goes away and stays away for a while!

Ok, off to the day job, then I'll be home to clean (boo!) and knit (yay!)!  Have a good morning/day/night/week!

xoxo

Loose

If you've been reading my blog at all lately, you've seen this cowl.  It's my favorite.  (Don't tell the others!)

Since I love it so, I've been recreating it in different colors.  I haven't gone away from the gray though.  I HAVE tried to mix other colors, but I don't like it if it's not gray/silver with another color.  Weird, but true.

Here is a shot of the purple when I was working on it... The bright purple next to the gray is so pretty!  And the gray yarn has a thread of silver metallic through it for a little sparkle!

I'm hoping to do a quick photo shoot with my photographer/cousin Karen next month...  Then they'll be on both of my sites!

Now to go knit that orange and gray one....

Have a wonderful day!

I really like food - Cracked Wheat Bread

I have had some cracked wheat sitting around the house for a while and really didn't know what to use it in.  Yeah, sometimes I buy things and then wonder why.... But I finally found a recipe on allrecipes.com that looked easy enough (and I had all the ingredients).

This Cracked Wheat Bread II was the first one that really caught my eye... And since I had never used cracked wheat before, the easy to follow instructions were essential.  I do have a Kitchenaid stand mixer, so that cut back on the kneading... Though I do enjoy beating the crap out of some dough by hand once in a while.

I don't know if it was just the weather today or what, but it did rise a little slow. It could have been me when adding ingredients though of course too.  Either way, here is a photo of the two loaves it creates.

When I was almost ready to pop them in the oven, I did cut a slit straight down the center and brushed on some melted butter.  Just delicious!

Then after I was done knitting this lovely cowl....

Yes, a promo shoved in quick, but I just love it!

I needed a snack so I toasted the bread and slathered on some Ginger Pumpkin Jam from Jellybean and Julia's.  It was perfection....

Now that I have you drooling... Have a great day!

JB

Knittin' Pretty

I've been knitting like a crazy woman lately!  I'm definitely trying to get a line of baby girl sweaters out and it's coming along nicely. I can't wait to show them off, but for now, here are a bunch of fun knit and crochet things I've made.  They are soon to be on my site!

This cowl is sold, but I have more colors coming soon!

This is a fun green and silver crocheted cowl.

My new favorite yarn!  So much texture!

A nice slouchy hat!

Crazy soft cowl with two buttons!

Big slouchy cowl/hood in turquoise and silver.

Fun multicolor scarf with funky fringe.

Thanks so much to Jolene and Christy for modeling for me!  And Karen for taking the photos!  I have great friends and family!

More items to come, but you can check out all the photos on my facebook page here: Knits 2012

Now, off to knit!  :D

Just a little something...

Lately I feel like I've just been knitting and knitting.... Like I'm obsessed.  I'm ok with that, but my hands hate me some days. :P

Just wanted to share this cowl I've been working on.  It's knit with one strand of acrylic and one strand of a metallic, variegated blend.  I love the solid beige with the color mixed in... and add some sparkle, so it's perfect!

Also, I have been working on a line of baby girl sweaters.  I'm just working on designs now and you have to start from scratch, so one down, three in process (mostly in my head).  This 3/4 sleeve, cropped cardi just needs buttons and it'll be done!

New jewelry is on my Etsy site too..  I just have had no time to blog to share it all! I do seem to be able to facebook more, so if you want more updated info, check me out there- https://www.facebook.com/JennyBunnyCreations !

For 20% off your whole order on Etsy, use coupon code "LoveIt" at check out!

I think that's it for now...  Time to go knit!

Delayed Reaction

I'm a little slow. I can admit it. Sometimes, sadly, I start things and NEVER finish them. It's bad. It's lazy, I know.

Well, in a random I-need-to-organize-and-clean mood this weekend, I came across a knit piece I started about two years ago. Yeah. Two years. *hides face in shame*

I folded it and set it aside until I could get all the knit items in one area and sewing stuff in another. I tossed all the fabric I have into the dryer just to get the dust out. I have lots of fabric, but it was completely disorganized. It took me three dryer loads just to get it all situated. *hides face in shame again*

When it came time to go through the knit/yarn things, I stopped yet again on this partially done sweater mess thingamajig. It was just the body, no arms and no neck.

Hmm. What to do? What to do?

I could add arms....

I could add a collar.......

Or I could just throw it back in the tote.

Then! EUREKA! What about a big ol' cowl neck on it. Leave off the sleeves and just do a big ol cowl?!

I did it. It's perfect. I showed my coworkers today and everyone wanted one..... I don't know how serious they were, mind you, but they loved it!

So, I'm making a white one now too.

Here's a relatively bad photo of it.... I'll take a new one soon.

You can see the arm holes and the turned over cowl.

I'm lovin' it!

The sweater, that is.... I ripped it apart. All the way down to nothingness.

Then I stared at the pattern for a long time. A loooooong time. Ok, less than five minutes until I realized what I needed to do to make it work for me.

I deleted a few unnecessary stitches, changed it around a bit, then I started knitting again. I'm about two inches in already. My hands hurt, but I'm in love with it now.

♥ it!

I'll take a pic this weekend after I get more time into it!

Taking a break

So, I'm going to take a little bit of time away from the pretty jewels and work on some other fun things I love to do.

Such as this lovely sweater. Her name is Eustice. She is a happy sweater. Sweater pattern at least. She's not actually made yet... She's three inches old now.

If the pattern weren't so detailed and, well, if I didn't have to read it for EVERY stitch, it'd go much faster! But it's so pretty, I must do it.

Darling Eustice is going to be a present for someone. I won't say who. I'll post some pictures soon to show off my work!

JB

Busy Bunny

I've been busy!

Above are two scarves I've added a little stitching to to prevent unraveling! The black and white is a nice thick weave! The plaid is a bit thinner, but I love the texture! I really only did a small bit of stitching to them because I like the frayed/worn look! I actually don't know if I'm even going to sell them...

Below is a shrug I'm making for my boyfriend's niece who will be arriving in January or maybe earlier! It's an adorable little thing! It's knit in a 3x3 rib and all in one piece! It's going to be so perfect! It's taking a bit of time though since it calls for a size 4 knitting needle! My hands don't love the small work!

I've also been playing around with some cat-toy ideas. So far Cassie and Brutus think it's a good idea... They are so toked on catnip, though... I'm not sure if they really know what's going on!

What a nice weekend.

I finally got my giftcard in the mail to Barnes & Noble on Friday... $50!!! I rarely spend the money on books I really want, so this was a splurge event for me!

I got three cooking books, an organization book, a knitting magazine..... And I'm in heaven!

I found this great book... 500 3-Ingredient Recipes and I love it! Mind, you there are "freebies" in the recipes- Like, water, flour, sugar are not counted in the recipes, among a few other things. Still, all the recipes are simple and easy. I made homemade granola, for God's sake... How sweet is that!

I was browsing through the knitting magazine and found an awesome artible on invisible cast-ons and bind-offs... I was hesitant to believe that they actually looked like the pics... But, seriously. It's amazing how nice the edges look. I'll link to the magazine when I can remember the name! I forget!

Anyway, it was my dad's birthday on the 11th and we celebrated on the 13th. FOOD! My sister made this mac'n'cheese... Oh. My. God. It was so good. It's the only kind I'll ever make ever again. Ever. Four Cheese Macaroni from AllRecipes- We did add more cheddar. I know that seems crazy when you read the recipe, but my family likes it cheesy.

Sunday was my day of rest... yay. Though I did get some knitting/crochet done... and read A LOT!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Orange you Glad!

I've been working on a new scarf. In orange. I love orange. I love soft yarns too.

This lace pattern was a little above my knitting abilities a few months ago, so I just admired it from afar.

I could not understand the "YO" thing. YO = Yarn Over.

Once I figured it out, I just went crazy on a pattern from The Caffeinated Crafter's Blog... I can't remember which post it is... You'll just have to find the waves and fans pattern!

I love her blog too, by the way. She's one smart cookie when it comes to crafting.

The pattern I used here though was one from a book that was published in 1960-something. The pics are to die for! I love it!

I just wanted to share the progress! It's a wide and warm scarf... Almost done... I need to add another foot and then do the finishing. I'm debating on fringe. I love fringe. But we'll see!
